The Way it Was - Volume 9 features historic footage of the Railways of Queensland, beginning at Rosewood with C17s shunting and hauling coal trains on the Mainline and the Marburg branch.

There's plenty of western steam action with scenes at Harlaxton, Toowoomba, on the Milmerran Branch. at Wyreema, Pitsworth, Drayton and Harristown.

Some modern scenes with coal trains, and he newly restored 1620 undergoing its first load test run to Grandchester.

Then there is steam in the Mackay Region with C17s, the former Aramac Tramway loco No.12 and a Molasses train at Mirani.

Double Headed PB15s take a tour to Beaudesert with scenes at Rocklea, Bethania, Buccan, Veresdale and Jimboomba.

English Electrics and Tandur, 1078 at Beerburrum, Comeng at the Redbank Workshops then 1079 takes a tour to Wyreema with scenes at Grandchester, Murphy's Creek, the Toowoomba Range, Hospoitol Hill and near Wyreema.

Filled with numerous classes of Railmotors, locomotives and closed lines this compilation continues with scenes on the Kingaroy and Proston lines, with trains hauled by DH locos and a tour on board 1901.

C17 974 tours to Miva, featuring the Dickabram Bridge then we see scenes at Lappa Junction, and more DH movements to Chillagoe, Almaden, Mungana, Gin Gin and the Mackay region.
